Ma Fernandez Ochoa, a graduate of the 2016 business program, has been a busy bee all summer long. She is a most inspirational human! She has had a rough life, is disabled in one hand,
has a medical condition, but she persists! She is an unstoppable super human who refuels her soul through growing food.
This summer, Ma kick started her nonprofit idea called Buena Temporada, or Good Season, and has been donating food boxes to organizations around Eugene and Springfield. She mostly works with her family. Her sweet grandkids are her most valuable allies on this project, contributing much joy, laughter and inspiration while also learning to grow food.
Ma plans on funding her program through the generosity of our community and gladly takes plant and time donations. She is often looking for volunteers, and tends to be in the gardens on Saturday mornings from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
She is also selling eggs to help fund costs relating to the project. The eggs cost $5 a dozen, $4 if they are picked up from her place. She is also looking for egg cartons, if anyone has any to spare. Her son, Alejandro is helping her with this project and to get in touch with them you can call (541) 224-8189.
